“There are podcast awards out there, but we feel that the Disney Podcast community is large enough to warrant some awards of our own.”
Recently I had the opportunity to be a part of something new in the Disney community with the creation of the Dizzie Awards. The Awards are a way for the Disney community to recognize the effort of the podcasters who use their time to share their passion for Disney with their listeners . And while it is true that there are podcast awards already in existence, the creators felt that “the Disney Podcast community is large enough to warrant some awards of our own.”
“The whole idea was just based on a couple of fans wanting to do something fun,” stated award co-creator Brian Perkins. He went on to say that the initial idea for a Disney specific award came from co-founder James, who goes by the name Disney Podcast Lover on twitter. James shared his thoughts on the Award creation; “I wanted to acknowledge those who take their spare time to share their passion for all things Disney.” James also had the additional goal of using the award to spread the word about the Disney podcasting community. “Not everyone is aware of podcasts, believe it or not, and Disney fans are very passionate. These podcasters share their love and opinions informing others about things they didn’t know about the world of Disney.” And with that goal in mind the Dizzie Awards were born. You can read more about them in the posts below!
With the first year of the Dizzie Awards being so well received the creators are already looking to next year. According to Brian, “we will expand next year and look for more panelists. The fan vote will be opened up sooner and we hope to have the whole thing a little more widespread”. So for those of you who participated in this first year of the Dizzie awards, winners, panelists, and fans alike, keep your mouse-ears open for next years Dizzie Awards.
