We’re coming to the end of the 25 days of Christmas here on DisneyKate.com. It’s been a blast so far. I thought I’d take a moment today to list of 25 my favorite things about Disney at Christmas.
25. Christmas Music in the Parks
I always love a good Christmas Carol, and hearing Christmas music in the parks is especially wonderful.
24. The Epcot Topiaries
Now Epcot has Topiaries all year round, but the ones at Christmas are my favorites.
23. The Jingle Cruise
During the Holidays Disney transforms some of their rides into Holiday versions. In Walt Disney World the holiday overlay is the Jingle Cruise. It’s the only one I’ve experienced first hand so it’s on the list!
22. Santa Goofy
Santa Goofy is a seasonal meet and greet character in Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. He’s fun to meet up with and he’s in charge of lighting the Osborn Family Spectacle of Lights.
21. Belle’s Christmas Dress
Belle is my favorite princess and I love that during Christmastime you can see her in her Christmas dress rather than the traditional gold gown.
20. The Floridian Gingerbread Shop
I love Gingerbread houses, so much. And the fact that there is one big enough to fit a store inside of it makes this one of my favorites ever.
19. Joyful: A Gospel Christmas Celebration
This Epcot show features Gospel Christmas Music. Its fun to sing along with, or dance to, both of which I love to do!
18. The Christmas Shop in Germany
I love this shop because in there it’s Christmas all year round!
17. Gingerbread Ice Cream
This seasonal treat is a Christmas must do at Epcot. You can find it in les Artisans Les Glasses in the France Pavilion.
16. Christmas Trees around the Park
There are tons of Christmas Trees in the Parks this time of year. I listed my favorites a few days ago, but I still thought they were worth another mention.
15. Mickey’s Christmas Carol
I love A Christmas Carol and I really enjoyed the original Disney version of the classic tale. Mickey makes a fantastic Bob Cratchit and I love Scrooge McDuck and his permanent position on the Disney roster.
14. Bouche Du Noel
This French Christmas cake is absolutely delicious. (Can you tell where my favorite Epcot Christmas food stop was?)
13. The Holiday Meal at the Liberty Tree Tavern
I loved this meal so much I dedicated a whole Day of Christmas to it!
12. Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe
This is another year round Christmas Shoppe in Walt Disney World, specifically in the Magic Kingdom. I like stopping in during the height of summer when you’re most in need of a little Christmas.
11. Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Season
I love Wishes very much. And Holiday Wishes is a wonderful variation of the classic show!
10. Holidays Around the World
I love the storytellers, the decorations, the snacks and the whole Holidays Around the World package.
9. The March of the Toy Soldiers Down Main Street
These life-sized toy soldiers marched straight out of Babes in Toyland and right onto Main Street USA. They are a crowd favorite and I love the sound they make as they march down the street.
8. Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
I love going to look at lights. It’s a family tradition in my house. When I was very small, I tried to count every house in the neighborhood that was decorated. Well, 5 million lights are way more than I could ever count myself. And the way they dance to the music is…well…spectacular!
7. Snow on Main Street
The snow on Main Street is absolutely magical. It looks just like the real thing that falls here at home. Of course, the homegrown snow tastes a bit better than the Magic Kingdom variety.
6. Christmas Mickey Ears
I love writing with these on, they were the first things I bought on my Christmas trip last year. And they are one of my favorite souvenirs of all time.
5. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights Nativity
Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’s birth, so I was thrilled to find a small nativity tucked back into one of the corners of the Streets of America. It’s part of the Osborn Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights and can be found until the first week of January.
4. Cinderella’s Castle Dressed in Lights
Cinderella’s Castle is always beautiful, but when it’s lit up for Christmas it is pure magic.
3. Mickey’s Good Deed
This is one of the oldest Christmas shorts from Disney and it embodies the spirit of Christmas perfectly. Mickey gives everything he has to those who need it. Christmas isn’t about what you can get, it’s about what you can give.
2. The Candlelight Processional
Walt Disney started the Candle Light Processional in Disneyland in 1958. Now it’s a tradition in Epcot as well. The Processional is held in the American Pavilion in the World Showcase and features a full choir, orchestra, the Voices of Liberty and a Celebrity Narrator who reads the story of Christmas from the book of Luke. There are a few ways to view the show, you can purchase a ticket for the food package, or you can stand on the curb near the theater and watch from there. Either way it brings the story of what Christmas is to visitors of the Disney parks.
1. Memories of Christmas at Disney with my Family
I will never forget my trip to Disney during Christmas. It was a dream I never really planned on coming true and it was everything I had dreamed of and more.
